When I first contacted LaX movers I spoke to Wayne and gave him a very thorough inventory of what I needed to have moved. He gave me a verbal estimate of the cost which included 1 hr to load the truck and 1 hr to unload the truck plus 5 hours drive time to and from my new address. And they don't get paid peanuts, they charge $170 per hour! On the day of the move, the two-man crew arrived a little bit later than they were supposed to. Remember I pay from the minute they leave their office. One of the movers first comments to me was that he was sick with food poisoning. After signing the contract before the work began, I asked how long they thought it would take to load their truck. Their answer was THREE TIMES the amount of time I was previously given as an estimate! I thought the guy was joking! As they were loading my items, the mover who had said he wasn't feeling well also told me that he was only working at about half his usual capacity and that I really only had a guy and a half, instead of the two I was paying for. I called Wayne to ask him if a discount could be provided for the ill mover and while I was on the phone noticed that they had also damaged my dryer, putting in almost 7-in scratch across the black control panel at the top of the machine, when they were removing it from the washer dryer closet. I was offered $10 for the damage to my dryer. My washer and dryer set is only 2 years old, in like new condition and mid-grade Whirlpool products. Their contract very clearly says that they cover exterior damage to appliances through their insurance. They fought that and made every excuse to not cover the damage to my appliance. When I tried to hold my ground, and said I just wanted to be treated fairly, about having a mover working at half capacity, and being compensated for the damage to my dryer, Wayne said that he's not going to argue with me and threatened to cancel the move and have the guys unload the stuff they had already loaded. They did give me a $100 discount because of the sick mover not able to perform at his full capacity. But because they took three times longer loading my belongings and I was told by Wayne that unloading takes three times longer than loading (told this on moving day, not prior to), I just had them put the larger items in the home and all the smaller items and boxes in the detached garage, and I would have to move all those into the house myself. As an FYI, I'm a 60-year-old, single woman. I was not expecting to have to do so much work myself after hiring a moving crew, but because they gave me a dishonest estimate ahead of time, I had to do that so that I could stay in my budget. If I had not had them limit the amount of labor of unloading, instead of paying for 2 total hours of labor as I was told verbally, I would have been paying for approx 9 hours of labor. That's a huge difference and a very unprofessional and deceptive practice. Overall, in trying to talk to and negotiate with Jason and Wayne, was like trying to talk to someone who didn't give a crap about their their customers. Jason even said to me when I was asking him about compensation for my damaged dryer, that he's not a materialistic person. I'm thinking why is somebody who doesn't care about material things given responsibility for handling an individuals property and belongings? At the end of the move after they unloaded, Jason still would not budge on giving me compensation for my damaged dryer and said that the scratch could be buffed out - of plastic! I told him I would get and send an estimate for the repair and I wasn't trying to get anything more than just having my dryer restored to the condition it was before they damaged it. He just said okay and left. Of course, after a full day of moving and stress, I didn't realize until they were gone that they didn't leave a copy of the contract with me, only a receipt for what I paid them. I would suggest rather than going by online reviews like I did, check around for word of mouth feedback on their customer service and employees.

This is the second time we have used Lacrosse Movers. Both times I was very happy with their services. All of the employees are hard workers, courteous and pleasant. I will definitely use them again.

An unusual move situation makes this review challenging. Discovering broken items (box most likely dropped or shifted in truck) is disappointing, especially when packing carefully.

The moving company seems to fall short in customer service. Am not sure if the response to the claim of broken items would be met differently if LaX Movers had packed and moved every item (including packing and taping all boxes and all items).

LaX Movers responded with (in part) this:
Our investigation found that additional parties were involved in completing your move. Unfortunately, per our policy, our insurance does not cover damages when third parties assist in the process.

Lessons to learn.
Don’t let anyone but the movers touch anything. Don’t watch them (would then have seen any thing that might cause damage—they would then not be responsible because the customer saw it and was aware).
Respond only via e-mail (phone conversation content is not documented).

Sadly, they could toss a customer a few bucks for damages and make strides in positive recommendations of their service. Sorry to not support this local business

Josh, Raymond and Coulton made our moving process sooo easy and worry-free. We had an upright piano, an enormous hutch and other large, heavy and awkward items. From the start of the booking process to the very end, La Crosse Movers made sure they asked every question and had everything we needed during our move. They kept asking if we needed more help, and made sure all of our furniture and precious items made it safely and were placed in the right spot in our new house. I couldn’t be happier and would recommend this company to anyone.

If La Crosse Movers needed a slogan, it could be "Save your Marriage: Hire La Crosse Movers".

My husband and I initially thought we could rent a truck and do it all on our own over a weekend. Reality settled in a few weeks prior to our closing day and we made a call to La Crosse Movers. They answered the phone within two rings, and had our desired day and time available.

Duncan and John were true professionals with our move from the south side of La Crosse to Onalaska in April 2023. Our packing was more than a little scattered, we are not proud to admit. Without judgement or a single complaint, these two corralled our belongings and loaded the truck like a game of Jenga.

They went above and beyond helping us settle into our new home. Hiring La Crosse Movers was worth every single penny. Efficient, friendly, helpful - I have nothing but positive things to say and continue to recommend to friends, family, and coworkers in the real estate industry by word of mouth.

Thanks again for all your help!

Nelson, Dustin & Issiah came to move a piano 2 days after we called. They were funny and professional. Easy to work with and made sure we knew exactly what they were doing when they set up for the move. Thank you! Will use again!

La Crosse movers did a fantastic job moving our furniture, boxes, and big screen TVs. They brought two trucks and four men, on time and ready to go. The guys were amazingly strong and energetic, yet very careful with both our home and items - no scuffs or dinged corners on any walls or furniture. They gave special attention to our most precious pieces and put everything back together the way it was supposed to be. It was a good experience for us.

The crew we had - Josh, Donovan, Tony and Mike - were the best and I highly recommend their services!

Thank you!!
