Facility Details and Specialties

This facility specializes in providing cold storage, a critical service for businesses requiring temperature-controlled warehousing. Beyond cold storage, Jackson Cold Storage also functions as a caterer, suggesting a flexible and responsive approach to client demands. The company’s core business revolves around ensuring the integrity and safety of perishable goods, pharmaceuticals, and other temperature-sensitive items. The sheer volume of deliveries and shipments processed indicates a significant operational capacity, managed through a dedicated team and infrastructure.

This positioning facilitates efficient transportation routes, connecting it to major distribution networks across the region. Notably, the facility offers wheelchair accessible parking lot, demonstrating a commitment to inclusivity and accessibility for all visitors and clients. This feature is particularly valuable for businesses prioritizing universal access and demonstrating responsible operational practices.

Operational Observations – A Nuanced Perspective

Reviews and anecdotal evidence suggest a dual reality regarding the operational experience at Jackson Cold Storage. While staff members are consistently described as being friendly and polite, the physical infrastructure presents challenges. The docks, as reported, are described as ‘old and run-down,’ necessitating urgent repairs and maintenance. The staging area for trailers, while present, appears to be somewhat limited, potentially leading to congestion during peak periods. The experience of unloading often involves a ‘first-come, first-served’ (FCFS) system, and drivers may experience delays due to backlog or operational constraints.

Delivery Procedures and Wait Times

A common theme within the reviews highlights the variable wait times for unloading. Drivers frequently report arriving at 3:00 PM and facing substantial delays, sometimes exceeding seven hours, before their shipments are processed. The ‘shift change’ period, mentioned in several accounts, is cited as a key bottleneck, adding to the overall wait time. The process of obtaining clearance – specifically, the cut of the seal – is also described as sometimes taking considerable time, often extending to 8:00 PM before the unloading process commences. Despite these challenges, the efficiency of the unloading process itself, once underway, is reported to be relatively quick, with shipments often being cleared within 30 minutes of seal cutting.

Customer Feedback and Reputation

Currently, Jackson Cold Storage maintains 73 reviews on Google My Business, offering a valuable gauge of customer sentiment. The average opinion is 4/5, indicating a generally positive perception, though highlighting areas for improvement. The feedback consistently praises the staff’s cordiality and willingness to assist. However, recurring concerns revolve around the aging infrastructure, logistical delays, and the perceived lack of organization within the staging area. The mention of a specific employee, “Mr. Prime,” and concerns regarding his behavior, underscores the importance of maintaining professional conduct within the facility.

Recommendations for Prospective Clients

For businesses considering Jackson Cold Storage, it's crucial to acknowledge both the strengths and weaknesses of the facility. The friendly staff and the provision of cold storage services are undoubtedly valuable assets. However, potential clients should be prepared for potential delays and logistical challenges, particularly during peak periods. Proactive communication with the facility's operations team is highly recommended to understand current wait times and secure a preferred unloading slot. Furthermore, considering the condition of the docks, it’s advisable to factor in potential repair costs or to explore alternative storage solutions if minimizing downtime is a paramount concern. Strategic planning and flexible scheduling are key to optimizing the experience with Jackson Cold Storage.

My delivery was a fcfs due to os&d bs from previous drop. Arrived at 3. Got in dock at shift change. Waited till 8pm for them to come out and cut seal, but had me offloaded in 30 minutes. Not the best, but not the worst either. Staff was friendly and polite. The other driver there though, Mr prime... Needs to stop being a creeper.

The people are nice enough and try to get you in and out as quickly as possible. But the location is old and run-down docks are in sad need of repair. There is staging parking. Good luck with that

They made us wait 4 hours to unload 2 pallets. I had to go in twice and get the manager involved. They did try to make it right by not charging us the 150 lumper fee However, because of this we weren't able to make it to our next pickup before they closed so we ended up being stuck at the TA for New Years.

Very friendly folk with fast service. I was totally surprised as most cops storages are rude and never ready to load until at least 6 hours have passed. Here I was in at 8am and out by 9:45am
