I am very thankful we went with Blue Line Land Works to remove our trees. They are timely, courteous, knowledgeable and professional. Always had a smile (as did I watching the trees coming down) and made sure to discuss any deviations in the plan before executing. Being able to support a local, family owned business who delivers exceptional service, is important to us. Blue Line Land Works exceeded every expectation we had of the process, from start to finish. Highly recommend.

It’s a tough choice cutting trees because once they are gone, they will never be big again in your lifetime. We spent months researching what to expect and what to require from our loggers. We interviewed and received estimates from three logging outfits, ultimately signing with Blue Line Land Works out of Woodland. It was the best decision we could make.

We were harvesting 21 acres. Nearly all the valuable Douglas for was falling distance from the house. In fact, a few trees we could almost touch from the front deck. The rest of the trees were red alder and most had diseased tops.

The other logging outfits said the alder would bring no money and that the mills were not accepting pulp logs, which is what typically is done with unusable fir logs. Craig, the owner of Blue Line, had representatives from the mills come out and walk the property with him. The effect was he found a hardwood mill buyer for our alder logs, netting us $20k out of these “no value” logs. Additionally, some of our fir trees were oversized, which typically means less valuable. Craig found a local custom mill that specializes in oversized logs and got us thousands more for them than the other mill would pay.

A note about the mills: our trees went to 5 different mills because Craig finds a way to squeeze every penny out of every log. Through Craig, the mills set up direct deposit to our bank account and all but one of the contracts were digitally signed through my phone. Craig even found a way to circumvent the mill’s unwillingness to take pulp logs by having the pulp machine come to the site and chip everything directly into semi trucks which took the material to the paper mill. This only gained us about $600, but it was better than it going to waste.

Our neighboring properties had harvested their timber over the last few years and I hated the look of stumps and slash piles that were left behind. Blue Line agreed it looked poorly and hired a Tiger Cat harvester, which is a million dollar machine that cuts the tree at ground level and lays the tree down gently, reducing damage to the valuable fir trees.

For the trees right up against the house and those in tricky areas, Blue Line brought in a “specialist” named Paul. Paul and Craig both are absolute artists at dropping trees. It was far more technical than I imagined and watching them work from the comfort of my deck chair was quite the experience.

Craig included the rebuilding of our driveway in the contract, which was smart because a logging operation really does a number on your driveway. I elected to also pay Blue Line to burn the slash piles, which they recently received the permit for and will start doing soon.

Final thoughts; Blue Line Land Works is what our economy needs more of. A small, family owned and operated, local business. Craig, his granddad, his dad, and brother make up the core of the crew with local loggers filling specialized roles like falling (Paul) and operating the Tiger Cat (Branden). Craig’s wife played a crucial role by keeping everyone well fed, bringing out their children to operate equipment on dad’s lap where they learned the family trade.

While I am grateful for the well cleared land left behind, and experiencing a project ran by conscientious professionals, the most noteworthy result for us was netting 32% more money for our timber due to Craig’s relationships with local mills.

I had Blue Line Land Work log my property. You can't beat the honesty and integrity of a family owned business. Craig was very helpful explaining my options and walking me through the various paperwork needed. And he also gave an accurate estimate for my driveway needed to access the timber. My property is very steep and it was not a simple road to build but they made short work of it and did a quality job. They fell all of my timber even some close to my house with no issues at all. Very professional and knowledgeable people. I highly recommend them for any land clearing or logging you need done.

Blue Line Land Works logged my property in the spring of 2024. They are honest, hardworking people and a pleasure to work with. There were a lot of large trees on the property and Craig Murray was able to fine sawmills that would take them. I had been told in the past that no sawmill was set up for large trees and they had no value. Blueline cut down all the trees next to my home with precision. Not one structure on the land was damaged. I highly recommend this company!

Called Craig with blue line land works to come out and look at/ log some cedar trees on my property in La Center. He communicated very well before the appointment and was on time! He was very knowledgeable and very helpful. He's a straight shooter and very honest! He also fell a rotting alder tree that was in a very dangerous spot! (Pictured below.) He fell it perfectly between 2 maple trees without knocking any branches off of my maples! Craig isn't the only logger I've had come out. But after using him, there's no need to call anyone else. We plan on logging the top of our property in the near future and blue line will be the company I call!

I just recently purchased a brush rake for my KX-040-4

I called Craig at Blue Line and he managed to get my rake built in less than two weeks from our first phone call. The rake is very well built and affordable. Much better quality and design to what kubota has to offer(and cheaper). Their design was born from them actually using their own tool, so you know it works, especially for the PNW forest. I highly recommend anyone with an machine that's looking to get the job done give Blue Line a call.

I recently bought a brush rake from Blue Line Land Works. These guys are the real deal and are great to work with! I'm using this on my Kubota KX040 to clear and thin trees on my property. I love the versatility of this rake... on one pass I can grab and pile small loose limbs, then on the next pass I can grab and stack 25" cedar logs! If you have an excavator and work with trees their brush rake is a must have!
