Jackson airport is receiving $24M in grant money this year and looks like changes are happening already. They are building a new Dunkin donuts in the main check in area. JAN doesn't have any food option outside the gate for at least 5 years now so the Dunkin donuts will be nice for traveller.
Waiting time in JAN always been short, check in time is short because there are usually not a lot of people. Latest I check in is like 30mins before departure, no that I recommend being that late and holiday travel might have longer wait time but usually check in and TSA is pretty quick.
I wish visitors could see the gates and runway. The current layout blocking all the views and they have history exhibits that no one visits also block the view outside.

I’ve been traveling for the past 20 years in and out of airport every single week I spent the last six months on a project in Jackson and this airport has been horrible! Every trip in and out just left me speechless how bad this place is!
If there was an option to rate this zero or -5 that’s what I’d give this airport! Escalators are always broken. TSA is rude gates on both sides where American Airlines Delta and Southwest side gift shop people are rude. No food options waiting areas filthy restrooms old rundown filthy. And they’re pounding their chest that they’re putting a Dunkin’ Donuts in the lobby of the airport wow! Try cleaning up your gates, your seating, your restrooms and food options behind Security!

Employees are slow (understandable for a small airport) and lazier than you can possibly imagine. They will not accept valid forms of ID if they are in a bad mood. TSA won’t let you do pre-check even if it’s on your boarding pass. It’s not so bad that I wouldn’t fly out of it again, but I would choose a different airport if remotely possible.

Pretty nice small airport, bathrooms are clean and it's easy to navigate. Quick in and out for dropping off or when arriving and leaving.

If you have the option to drive to Mississippi, please do. Flying into this airport is easy, but flying out is a serious challenge. The airport is super small, but goodness……they have some simple-minded processes and procedures here. Everyone at a check-in counter is available to help because it’s slow. So that’s a good thing. Once you leave them, you have to walk to one side of the airport to go through security then be escorted by security to the other side of the airport; where you initially started out. They walk you in a line like a bunch of kindergartners and tell you not to talk to anyone or you’ll have to start this ridiculous over again . Finding an outlet is like playing g where’s Waldo, then they don’t work. But luckily there is this one lonely little desk that says charging station sitting against a wall. This has to be the worst small airport I have been in and I have been in airports where you load the plane from the tarmac. Just prepare yourself for some foolishness if you have to fly in or out of this airport.

I'm generously giving this place a 3. It gets you to and from locations smoothly, so it doesn't deserve a 2. However, if you have other options, I advise using another airport.

Here's why I don't like this airport (note these are my personal experiences and preferences):

1. **Bad customer service:** Most staff are either indifferent or rude. One incident stood out: at TSA check-in, an older man asked a 9-year-old girl if she was married or had a boyfriend, making her and her mom uncomfortable. This behavior was unacceptable and reflects poorly on the airport.

2. **Depressing atmosphere:** The airport is drab with neutral tones. A bit of decor, like a fake plant, could improve the ambiance. If aesthetics don’t matter to you, this might not be a concern.

3. **Gift shop issues:** The gift shop has no bags for purchases, many items lack price tags, and they don’t accept cash.

While some complaints are superficial, the poor customer service, especially the behavior of that one staff member, is the main issue. If you can avoid this airport, do so.

This is probably the best airport in the entire country. They have a wonderful long term parking area and you can park for no charge.

At check-in they treated my father very racistly. When he told them he didn't speak English and when they saw he was Latino, the employee changed her face and treated him very disgracefully. He had spent 10 pounds over and they wanted to charge 400 dollars for those 10 pounds when according to his ticket he could have spent 100 dollars up to 50 pounds too much. I am disappointed with how this trip worked.
