4 stars for now, but only since I'm only a month in Ill update after 90 days. So far, the company has been good to me. Dispatch wasted no time pushing my truck AT ALL, I'm definitely grateful for that, I'm talking 3500 miles off the bat. ALWAYS PREPLANNED AT LEAST 2 LOADS, in my personal experience ive been planned 3+ loads, so I know what im doing next. Everyone in the office is super nice but night time Dispatch must improve. Considering how much we have to washout trailers, I would love to see some sort of pay for it, even if it's $10 per washout, just a suggestion!! Shout out to Jacob, my dispatcher. If you get him, consider your bills PAID! Thanks for bringing me on WEL!

They don’t listen, in one ear out the other, communication is null, system crashes weekly, safety rating is in toilet , 10 points from being put out of service, there a stop on site in the scales by DOT!

I'm a new employee, about 100 days and recent grad with my CDL. Renee was my recruiter and she's pretty frickin awesome!

I give the WEL Companies 4 stars they can always improve. 24/7 that awesome group of people ROCK!

The classroom setup makes you feel like you're in college and, the driving range is asphalt not gravel (smooth sailing).

There are some good things about this company mainly the people running it. Shep my favorite trainer, (he's the guy you'll see in most of the photos posted around the training center), Jeff, Johnny, Dave &, Eric are all super nice guys.

The open door policy they have implemented is pretty cool 😎. They listen and they take action, when needed.

They do need female trainers, after I was trained I received my CDL went to Florida, moved a few trailers from place to place and was given a truck. With no female trainer with me ever 🤷🏽‍♀️

I've been learning everything about delivering loads on my own. They really need to improve on training their women truck drivers.

I was buying a truck from wel, and 6mo down the road they came with a $8,000 that they claimed I owe them. After asking where did it come from they would only show me things on a company monter...After 6mo had pass now we're into a year and the money is still at 6000 when I ask how is they paying on it they came with shop fees and I was making 4,5,6 thousand a check but the payment was not moving at all... I think that this was a way to make me walk away from my truck. When I asked them how do I pay my bills they told me that they will give me 500 out of what ever I make that was the crazy thing I had ever heard... they are only out for wel and not the one's working for them.. they didn't even care if I lost my house car and everything I work for... drivers beware of this company

I did a load for this broker. It was an expedited load with two stops. They required MacroPoint for tracking, which I had, and you could not pick up the load until you accepted the tracking. I arrived on time at both stops, and everything went smoothly.

However, after one month, they sent me a revised rate confirmation with a $300 deduction because MacroPoint was not working during part of the trip. These are issues that drivers cannot control. It is not our responsibility to constantly deal with technology while focusing on driving safely and delivering goods on time.

I am really upset and frustrated by this tactic, which seems like a trick this broker uses to make extra money at our expense. I would strongly recommend not working with them!

Disclaimer: I Was an employee for nearly 6 years I stuck it out and believe that my evaluation is pretty accurate because I didn’t just hire on, stay for a bit and then leave. , In the beginning it was a really good company, senior staff that has been there for awhile really took care of the drivers and ensured that loads were happening, pay was fair and the driver felt appreciated.
That all changed a few years ago when most of those with any seniority or those who had the desire to take care of the drivers were fired, or left because of the work atmosphere.
One of the first things that was said to me was we are a family and we stress Family First… all that went out the window and it became about making as much for the company as you could.
You will see plenty of posts about driver appreciation and it used to be that drivers were given gifts or brought into a terminal for driver appreciation, the posts still continue but the difference is the appreciation gifts went away and the driver appreciation meals are all office staff while the drivers are out running.
Dedicate pay has been $210 for about 5 years, seems like a great pay rate until you realize they are going to run your full clock, have you do a split and when you add it all up you end up making $9.00 an hour. THEN watch for you to be dropped down to miles pay for the week because you didn’t get a full 5 days of running in, even if it was cause by slow freight. Having to call the owner to make it right was ridiculous. Dalton always made it right but the fact it took that much effort to get the right pay was unacceptable. Read other reviews and you will see it’s common practice.
Staff: lots of good staff, including Dalton who runs the company, however there are still a few that shouldn’t be employed there..
Phil the driver manager who stated when my mom passed “ oh that sucks but that’s the circle of life” Phil you are truly a clown.

Great equipment and some pretty cool people are on staff but others who have been there are more concerned about loads and will pretend to appreciate you and all you do until you decide to move on. Don’t expect a good luck in the future or thanks for what you have done. You’re now just a past employee who has decided to leave.
Do your research and read the reviews, you will see many of the good comments are from those who recently started and the ones like this are from those who spent many years running for WEL,

I worked at WEL Companies for almost 4 years in the office before I got blindsided with a termination. It was 7/22/24 - my first day back from a 2 week earned and approved PTO vacation. I was told it was because of performance yet I was diagnosed with a stomach ulcer in March due to the stress of that job. I even landed myself in the ER 2 days in a row back in April due to a bleeding ulcer. I had to take LOA that week, they were given doctors notes from the ER both times. I believe this, my health, had a factor in my termination.
The over working they require from their “family” (aka EMPLOYEES) to do for them is not worth it. Trust me. I overworked for this “family” who turned around and stabbed me in the back. I enjoyed the very few people in the office I worked with regularly and unfortunately are also work horses for the Tielens. Back to the reason why I got fired - “performance”. Once they got an office in Oklahoma and hired Sean Zaccarelli and got Curt and a couple others up in De Pere fired - that’s when this company really went downhill. Sean Z Is the real reason why I was let go. He was able to do my yearly review (that was rapidly done with him the day before my vacation) because of Ann’s step down from VP. Someone who never managed me and I already knew didn’t like me, got to do it. He didn’t like the fact that I called out his overrated planners down in OK he also nepotism-ed into an extreme nepotism company. They were planners for longer than I and struggled with planning trucks not in their areas, it was ridiculous! I won’t name names but let’s just say I was very much not the only one in De Pere office wondering what the heck OK is doing again.
Do not work for this company. They will make it seem all sunshine and butterflies - next thing you know it, you’re bringing the stress of working at a terribly ran trucking company home with you and your pay isn’t worth it!!
I will never say anything bad about the truck drivers - I feel bad for the ones that aren’t one of the top 50 favorites of the company and don’t get special treatment.

Update 4/7/25

WEL has damaged/stolen over $1000 worth of my possessions claiming they were hazmat or that they werent gonna send them period, just an excuse from Alexis in HR to rob me, much of it was blatantly stolen and other stuff the items were stored with were sent to me meanwhile other things were stolen they also threw out all of my food instead of sending it to me including several items that were sentimental to me from my childhood that I keep

Was shorted approximately $7000 dollars while at WEL and was forced to sell my vehicle to make ends meet

Was given excuses from service risk because I was told to stay at terminal for maintenance instead of taking me off the load they had me stay there, tell me oh sorry we're busy we'll do it later then being told it was my fault the load was late despite them knowing I was told to stay at the terminal for maintenance

Been told it's my fault a customer chose to decline a clean trailer for space, told it was a service failure and shorted on my check

Been told it's my fault my passenger didn't have a TWIC card (he couldn't have had one) and marked service failure that I didn't deliver even though I had to make him get out so I could enter a port, complete planning failures, they will do something every week to short you

I was told they were going to short me money for being early on a load

Between being forced to sell my car to break even, being forced to take out loans just to eat this company is a joke, I plan to release all the info in a video publicly about the conduct and behavior of this company towards me if I'm not paid what I'm owed, then I might consider changing this review

I wasnt getting reimbursed for parking as they said they supposedly do, I no longer pay for reserved parking or anything out of pocket as I can't rely on getting it back or knowing I'll need it for food money can't be out of pocket

Only reason I'm giving this 2 stars is at least the driver appreciation days and terminal amenities are pretty top notch and repair/maintenance is pretty good and detention time policies are great, otherwise they absolutely fail in the pay category, no garuntee you'll meet the 1250 a week or get even 500 a week. Roll the dice and guess what you're gonna get then go back and forth with payroll, manager and fleet relations why you got screwed this week, every week

And no those $2000 weeks aren't legitimate, those are me arguing with the company and finally getting some of what I was owed Previos weeks

This week was violently Ill, submitted my paperwork same as I always do with no issue, they had my BOLs and bubble sheets as required for pay and they had them in hand as of 1/26/25 at 8am est. They waited to call me at 2:55pm on Tuesday afternoon and already looking like it's an attempt to skimp me on my pay, they know I may need to go see a doctor and I live about an hour and a half to 2 hours away with not enough time to "drive down to the terminal to just correct the submitted pay I put in no differently than any other week but the tampa manager says there's a problem meaning there's no chance to make it same day before end of day to correct and no way to actually do so before pay period

Stay away from this company, they're thieves and clowns, they'll get what they deserve as more stories of what they do come out

Currently in process of contacting a lawyer over their actions to get compensation between putting me in excessive danger and shorting me money for not putting my life on the line in unsafe circumstances I've reported them to DOT for unsafe equipment and demanding I drive in unsafe conditions and will be suing for my possessions they either stole, damaged or disposed of as well as hostile workplace

DO NOT COME HERE
