I had fun going to auctions for a few months on and off, and as I got busier with my business I learned to plan out my attendance on rainy days when there are multiple auctions. Recently I traveled to Massachusetts and confirmed the auction with the faciity while I was heading there. When I got there 5 minuts early, the auction was cancelled, the facility manager was turning away a dozen people away one by one and the auctioneer hadn't bothered to show up once he found out it was cancelled. I spoke woth the facility manager and he said it was the law that people can negotiate with the facility owner to cancel the auction up to the minute of the auction . I called The storage auction solutions rep and he and the manager of the facility kept referencing the law as if they wrote it personally in their own worst interest. I told them it came off ad dishonest business and misadvertising. It was distressing that the auvtioneer from this company did not stick around to explain the cancellation, he just advertised it heavily, and never showed up . He is acting in bad faith by wasting everyone's time who attends in good faith.
If they want to have honest bidders, they will work to get the law amended to a deadline of night before the auction for cancellation. It turns off honest bidders who have real money to bid. Regarding the issue of cancelled auctions on the hour of the auction, the propietors of this business, storage auction solutions, appear helpless and not accountable, and nontransparent. They can't be bothered to stick around when facility managers renogotiate with tenants and cant be bothwred to work with this issue, so here it is for everyone to see. It's happened easily 20 percent of the time I have shown up to an auction that one or more units are cancelled, and probably 3 percent of the time that the auction is totally cancelled.
