Safeway and Winco have better fruits and veggies which are sourced more locally I suspect. A pineapple I got there a couple months ago was under-ripe and tasted like cork. Those one was mostly rotten. Long drive and we only go there every couple weeks so can't return it. I do like the free samples and other good quality products and dry foods.

Packed with members and out of stock for some items due to overwhelming demand! Go early mid-week for best selection and best service! Look for UNADVERTISED, IN-STORE Specials!

Update: Mike, a manager, was so friendly with my autistic son while I was checking out. 100 stars for bring a genuinely nice person and many thanks from Danny's mom (me)! Your attitude affects the whole store and we appreciate it.

It's a Costco! They usually have everything in stock, they are highly efficient, and this location is always well staffed. It is near impossible to get help finding things while walking aisles and the occasional sales pressure is unpleasant, but it's worth it to access the rotisserie chicken and other favorites.
Photo is of Mike being awesome.

Usually love this location but today at checkout the clerk was beyond rude. I don’t recall her name but she has red hair younger maybe 20’s and was purposely covering her name tag. Not to mention her (mom I think) they were talking about family issues stood next too her and conversed the entire time and also making us wait while she had her interaction with this woman. Then proceeded to be rude and have attitude. I said hello at the beginning she said nothing, said have a nice day in a smirk way because she still hadn’t acknowledged us and still nothing. Continued her conversation with this family member.

I was visiting from out of state at Costco on 4/5/25 at roughly 7:30pm. My husband was so exited to visit because we had driven by so many times that week and finally went to Vancouver Costco. We went to Portland Costco earlier in the week.

We were at Costco getting gas and were asked to pick up pizza on the way back for dinner. When we walked in the young member service guy at the door asked to see my husbands membership card. He ASKED to see it and did not ask to SCAN the card. So my husband shows him the membership card. The member service guy says aggressively he needs to scan the card. My husband turns it for him to scan and we all process to the food court.

While waiting for our pizza a group of men entered just like we did to get pizza at the food court. A front end supervisor ran up to the group and very loudly and rudely asked if they showed their card at the door. Here again they said did not saw scan the card. Not scan the membership card. The men said yes we showed them our card at the door. Then the supervisor asked to see the card. The men were kind and did not cause a distribution to the business. The supervisor started the distribution and caused an unnecessary scene. The men didn’t get a chance to order. When they asked the food court to order. The person behind the counter told them to use the kiosk to order. But then goes and takes the next customers order instead at the counter. The men go to order at the kiosk and the same supervisor in the red vest comes back and ask them to leave. Unable to handle the situation he tries to call a manager over to help him. The manager continues about his business as he was holding a bunch of tills from member services. Without the manager he asked the men to leave because they were not members. He allowed them to order the first time, then without ordering within minutes and watching them like a hawk asked them to leave. The men ask if he was the manager and the supervisor said yes I am. Clearly he is not a manager.

To think my husband was going to walk around and make a purchase that night. We said never mind after seeing what just happened right before our eyes. We just wanted to leave.

As a former employee from out of state AND always visiting Costco when traveling. This is the first time I’ve said I have never returning to this Costco because I did not want to be discriminated by the way I look and dress. These men were discriminated because they were not dressed like everyone else. And my husband was discriminated because we are young AND not white. Do better Vancouver Costco! You were NOT busy that night. Your employee did not need to start a scene that was not needed for other members to see how you truly are. You can handle the situation better.

These men actually ended up getting back in after most likely talking to the REAL manager while we were walking out. Mostly likely an AGM.

If you are traveling go to Costco in Portland. Do NOT go to Costco in Vancouver. Save your time and business because they don’t know how to teach their employees how to treat members. When we are members we want exceptional service. We are paying to come in to purchase and get serviced. Not get treated or see anything to make us not want to return to your store. It’s no wonder they don’t have any members shopping there. All other businesses have lines going out the door and at check out.

Former employee tip. Read the name tag of the employee talking to you if this happens to you. If it doesn’t say manger under their name then they are not a manger. Sadly we did not get the names of these individuals that night.

OK guys, let’s do this! Let’s review Costco!
Zombie apocalypse! Ground Zero! I mean when granny starts biting! Grab yer Team and head towards Costco! You wanna to be the first ones there!!! it’s the only logical choice! Lower those big steel doors, gather the clan, and you guys are set! I mean I think about this every time I go there. You can set up camp in the rafters!

I wonder if the government has already figured this out? Anyway as long as I’m here, I’ll actually leave a review.

What is it with the employees here? No matter how crowded or how busy it gets the checkers are always great. I mean by the end the of the day after checking out probably thousands of frazzled customers I expect they are ready to drop from exhaustion and then, wash, rinse, repeat… and back on the line! Cheerful, fast, engaging, these folks are basically superhuman.

And it’s a grand thing the checkers are kind because Costco is Costco and sometimes the crowds can be intimidating and the lines long and by the time I get to the front I’m a nervous wreck and I need a little encouragement as well of course, a box.

We go to the future Zombie fortress for the dog food and the damned rotisserie chicken. God! That’s amazing chicken! They recently renovated and doubled the kitchen back there, and the cook told me that they produce 900 to 1000 chickens a day! That’s a lot a chicken.

So other than good employees and zombie preparedness, what is there to say? The eyeglasses are affordable. They give out free treats. Their store brands are usually really good quality at decent prices. Their parking spaces are big and they have lots of shopping carts and cart corals. Their frozen food selection is fun. They have amazing snacks. Affordable hearing aids. Their employees are not only good, but seem pretty happy…

I suppose the problem here is I kinda want to hate Costco, but I can’t. It’s big, it scares me, I hate belonging to things, it can be crowded and crowds intimidate me, but it keeps drawing me back. Maybe it’s the dog food or the roast chicken, or maybe I’m just checking it out for Z Day. I’m old and I can’t run fast so I’ve got to find a place where I can hole up.

Seriously, though, I am amazed at the absolute quantity of the stuff they have there not to mention variety. The tents and furniture and plants and refrigerators and food and underwear for crying out loud! It is a testament to the American Supply Chain. The absolute apex of a complex shopping system. And inside, it can be like a city scene in Asia only with shopping carts instead of scooters and cars. Everyone milling around in uncertain patterns. Flowing, bumping, filling their carts with peanut butter pretzels and roast chickens, running into old friends. Dragging entire families along.

I don’t like the food court as much now since the renovation.
