Cute fun ride. The crew were all authentic and so nice. Train stops at Moulton Falls, and we were able to walk down and get pictures.

Fun historic ride. Enjoyed the volunteers. It is for sure a labor of love. Most of them were also veterans. It is great to see people who actually fought for our freedoms, encouraging us to enjoy them! There is a gift shop, porta-potties, a super cool tunnel on the tracks, an open air and enclosed car available and a stop and small hike to the water falls available. This is a great event to pair with a few more stops, including other waterfalls in the area.

All aboard! The Chelatchie Prairie Santa Train is ready to go! This restored locomotive is no ordinary train; it’s the stuff of railroad buffs and children’s dreams, and the little town of Yacoult, Washington’s claim to fame. Passengers board with jackets, hats, gloves and scarves and even blankets for the open air trip from Yacoult to place unknown in the forest. The mid car, decorated with wreaths and holly, is heated up toastily for babies, elderly and those not so interested in braving the brisk Pacific Northwest air. It’s the Christmas season so the diesel locomotive stops for a hot cocoa and cider and a visit with Santa. Children are also treated to a photo with the jolly guy, a gift, and candy. A roaring bonfire is outside St. Nicholas’ shelter to warm up children’s cold little hands. The call to board is made once again, and the train trundles back through the forest and past frozen ponds back to the depot. At about $15 a head per adult and $13 for children, the Chelatchie Santa Train is a wonderful, wholesome jingle bell holiday experience straight out of a Hallmark Christmas movie!

Run all by very friendly volunteers! It's a fun, affordable, local activity that kids under 6 will definitely enjoy because it is a slow, smooth ride. For the Christmas train it is just under a 2hr journey including a pitstop to see Santa, get some hot cocoa or apple cider, and a toy (for donations) - and get a photo op with Santa! It's a good time to use the outhouse as well. You can also buy some fun train type toys in the ticket office. They have other special events throughout the year, too.

We did the Santa experience. We sat in the caboose (which on the way there is in front) which was very fun (and has some seats up high) but it's not decorated and you can't move between the cars. The main (indoor) cart is decorated and has snacks available. It's a fun experience. There is one short stop and you can go down to a waterfall and also meet Santa. There are porta potties at the stop (and the main compartment of the train has a bathroom). We sat in the open cart on the way back and it was really fun but it does get windy and wet. The way back is shorter. You go one way for about 40 min, go through a tunnel, then go back the same way. Then about a 20 min stop with Santa (hot chocolate, hot cider, coffee, small snacks and prizes for kids), then head back. We recommend sitting on the left side on the way to the tunnel although the right has better views of the bridge and river.

Went here for a father's day ride years ago, very nice train ride for multi-generational families, and train enthusiasts alike. They had both desiel and steam engines they gave rides on, I swung by it the other day and saw one train out and the cars. Also they do holiday and even Christmas tree train, where you get to pick up your own tree to take back with you.
