Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. They were a bit shorthanded at the time of my appointment but absolutely did their best to accommodate everyone.
Aside from my credit card getting charged twice it was a very good experience.

So glad I went to Empire Visionworks, Located on Grant Avenue in Auburn, New York. I’m so excited to get my new glasses. Lori handled everything in such a professional, efficient, fun manner; she knows her stuff. Cassandra, who works as a receptionist/front office was so sweet and kind. She has a wonderful disposition. These gals make for a pleasant experience. You’ll be happy you chose this group!

They don’t ever have any appointments unless it’s over a month away. They don’t send appointment reminders so when you show up 15 minutes late with literally nobody in the building they tell you they can’t help you. Going anywhere else from now on.

The staff turnover is obviously pretty sketchy, as we have been using Empire Vision for years. The staff is helpful, but employees very a lot, and were recently heard to complain about other staff members in front of customers. It may be very warrented, but not very professional. The staff is very helpful when it comes to giving you time and privacy to try on every pair of glasses in the place. (my primary reason for still coming) and are also very helpful with fittings and billing. A lot depends on the individuals, of course. We Boomers tend to find that young workers tend to vary to a great extent in work ethic, character and moral values, but maybe we're just prehistoric creatures. They also do try to help you to get the best "deal" on glasses, especially one of your long term male employee. The doctors are on line, whereas they used to be in person. They seem to be sufficiently knowledgeable, in general, but it feels much more impersonal than in real life. They did not notice that I have a lazy eye and referred our son to a retinal specialist which he did not need. The specialist was quite annoyed about that and asked why we trusted the doctors at Empire. I'm not really sure I really do.
It's very hard to get ahold of Empire by phone to make an appointment. Their system is very convulted and complicated.
The quality of their glasses is questionable. I bought two of the same pair and both broke just after the return period was over, and there were no refunds...not a chance. I still mean to return the two broken pairs to their company, but haven't yet..I still will.
I have had problems with the prescription in the past, but was strongly advised to " let sleeping dogs lie ." My dog loves that, but I wasn't overly pleased about it. I don't like to scream and stamp my feet to get my way, as it's not the employee's fault, but the company appears to run on a tight budget and the quality of their glasses is questionable. They do have good half price deals, however. I'm sure the internet is giving them a good run for their money these days. They also take our insurance, but so do most eye glasses establishments. I suspect that inferior quality glasses are not uncommon in this day and age, often made in China or some other third world company, but really? I would like a pair of rimless frames, but they are no longer available. Empire used to hire people who could fix your glasses. That too, seems to be a thing of the past.

I think this was my best experience at Visionworks. I need honesty when picking out new frames, and Lori and three other employees did just that. They couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful.

been wearing glasses for 16 years, and never had i ever had an experience quite like at vision works. for years ive been going to walmart for my glasses, and hadn't updated my prescription in 8 years. I went there, and had my exam done, and let me tell you, these people know what they are doing. had a telehealth conference with the optometrist and they showed me, YES ACTUALLY SHOWED ME what my eyes looked like inside, what they saw, told me I had astigmatism in both eyes, even told me they will make sure that the lenses I get will compensate for my astigmatism. the staff there, are super friendly, and super nice, they knew exactly what they were doing, and answered every question I had, whether my insurance covered what, how much it cost, and everything. while everything may be on the pricier side with how they treated me and handled my exam, it is well worth the price. they also took a pair of my old frames to put new lenses in for me (obviously have to pay for new lenses) and said if they get lost in shipping i can pick any pair in the store to replace it free of charge (my old frames are high quality flexons). overall? this has been one of THE BEST experiences in my life. i don't care if I don't have insurance that they will take next time i need glasses, I will always return!
