This little town of Yelm has this wonderful jewel, right in the heart of the town. It serves the needs of the community through the food bank. Additionally, the department of licensing section is so user-friendly. The folks here are so polite and professional. You can get your tabs, title, registration Etc. right here in town

No matter what the website says, the Thrift Store is NOT OPEN. It hasn't been open since Covid. The phone number for the Thrift Store given by the Community Service line has been disconnected yet when you go to their website it's still listed. I have called numerous times over the last couple of years and spoken with the Community Service manager (s) and was always assured that these matters would be corrected. They haven't been. They seem to be able to update their events for 2024 but they can't update information about the Thrift Store. Ever! This is such a shame. Parents depended on Yelm Community Services to help them with clothes for their children or household items that otherwise they couldn't afford. No more I guess. Such a shame.

I was surprised to find a line on a Monday morning. There was only 1 person working. She was pleasant even when one gentleman was annoying and asking questions while standing in line and she was working with another person. Another worker came on when it was my turn for assistance. She was congenial and efficiently processed my transaction. Parking is sufficient, and there are chairs in the lobby to sit while you wait your turn. The office was small and tidy. I would not go there on a Thursday, however, as they share this location with the Food Bank, so there will be more cars and congestion.

I always take advantage of the ood bank, they have much to offer.
The line goes way up the road and it's a wait but, I've got a hungry family and the food bank helps me make sure we are getting balanced meals.
I do miss there little thrift store. Closed when COVID hit.

These folks want to help. Seems like most of the other licensing outfits are programmed to tell you "no". The knowledgeable staff here are always fast and courteous. I have 9 licensed vehicles and ALWAYS choose them for in-person or on-line renewals and other services.

They offer so many great services here. When I got my Thanksgiving basket allot of things were expired and had to be thrown away. But I'm truly grateful for what I got. I would not have been able to have a Thanksgiving dinner with my family without their help.

I'm giving 5 🌟 because they help so many in need. Although the last time I went one individual chucked a 50lb bag of onions through my rear window and could've caused damage to my vehicle. There was no damage thank goodness. His attitude was wrong. He walked away mumbling something. I did let another volunteer know. Her excuse didn't help the fact that this guy could have broken something.
This is the first time I've encountered a situation like this.
