If your looking to support a local family owned and operated business this is it for pope county. However don't expect to pay fair prices or gain advanced knowledge as I not only disagreed with most information given to me as well as being able to prove otherwise with their own fish tanks along with them contradicting themselves. I bought a red tail catfish for $24.99, which died 6 days later. Called to ask if they had a health guarantee or exchange program and was met with ( those fish have been in MY tank for 2 months with no issues, I can test you tank water and tap water but that's its). All other fish are doing fine, pet smart is half if not more of the price and have a 14 day health guarantee no questions asked with proof of purchase. I have since been more happy with driving up to 40 miles to aquire new tank mates just to keep from going back here

I have really mixed feelings. On one hand, I really like to prioritize supporting local businesses, especially over large scale breeders. However, I’ve had mixed experiences with Davis. I do like that I’m able to get feeder mice from them. I believe they’re the only place in town that sells live ones. I also got a live plant and snail for my fish tank, and they both seem well.
However, I adopted a sweet little kitten from them and unfortunately had to return her because she was COVERED in fleas and I have other pets in my home. I gave her 3 baths over 2 days, and combed probably close to 50 fleas off of her. When I returned her, they put her back in the cage with the other kittens and did not seem to care about the fleas. I’m hoping they’ll treat the kittens behind the scenes.
Additionally, it seems like a lot of their product is outdated to the point of quality being affected. I purchased an oral hygiene kit for my cats and when I went home to open it, it was dry rotten to the point the plastic packaging just crumbled. There was a finger cover “tooth brush” and the bristles just dissolved. I haven’t give the oral care solution to my cats because I’m anxious it may be expired.
I’ll probably keep going there for feeder rats and aquarium care. But I really hope that they will take better care of their animals. It’s heartbreaking to read all of these comments about sick animals that they have sold, and I’m devastated that I had to return the kitten because of just how severe her fleas were.

I I just got out of this pet store and I wanted to leave a review on it.I have a huge amount of mixed feelings. First of all when I walk into the store It smells hurrindously. I understand it is a pet store, but that amount of stench is horrible. Secondly some of the animals are in poor care. I saw this Adorable ferret and it seems so friendly, but it was in this extremely small cage. I know this is bad because I had a ferret. They're supposed to have a Good amount of space. They're pretty hyper So they need lots of Attention and play time. They also had a perfectly Fine cage that the ferret could possibly go in. Some of the items there are just extremely overpriced. I know this because I recently had been to petsmart. I was already looking at a gecko because I was thinking about buying one. Then I see that the price is completely different. Petsmart being cheaper of course. I Have no hate On the owners whatsoever , I bet they are such sweet people , but the amount of care for animals should be The top priority in a pet store. I remember loving this pet store when I was Little And didn't think much of it. But now being older seeing the poor care of these animals. It's completely an utterly heartbreaking. I hope that they consider Becoming more hygienic to the animals. Once again.

Bought two parakeets there one had for awhile loved him yeah he was load but we loved him think he accidentally fell and broke his neck then got another and she lasted a week... Think she may have had a stroke. Not sure. But probably not the store's fault... They did give us a discount cause of the other bird's death.

There seem to be a lot of people who are not reading a very important word here. Discount. Yes, there is an abundance of animals! Are every single one kept in perfect condition? No, there's no possible way they can. When you walk in, use your knowledge of the animal you are investing in or caring for to make good judgment calls. Also, remember they are doing their best with limited staff and resources. Massive corporations do not treat your pets any better during breeding and transportation. When you are seeing an animal in a pet store, these are temporary habitats. They are trusting you to provide the amazing forever home the pet needs. The key word discount also let's you know that this isn't one of those new over priced hipster stores that are focused only on selling sponsored products, making as much money as possible and making the atmosphere as snobby as possible. This guy was down to earth and helpful. The store was clean when I visited. The animals were in good condition. I will continue to go here when I visit Russelville!

I remember coming here as a child and having such fascination with the animals. I absolutely loved this store. What do they say “ Ignorance is Bliss”. However, After just recently visiting as an adult with some animal care knowledge. I am mortified with the condition of the animals. The animal care is abusive and neglectful. I witnessed a tank with multiple bearded dragons with tail rot or injuries sustained from cohabiting these dragons. Dragons are solitary animals. They also lacked the proper husbandry which should have included a UVB light which prevents dragons from developing MBD and also helps digest their food. The enclosure was unsanitary with large amounts of feces. Most of these babies will need vet care to amputate the rest of their tails. I can only imagine the parasites loaded in their little bellies. Which will also require vet care. Also housed in a separate tank was an older breeder dragon. He had a uvb light and a heat light but the screen lid will prohibit a lot of the uvb to penetrate through to him. The lights was not positioned in a place for him to actually bask. The heat and uvb help dragons digest their food. He also showed signs of MBD. The underbite of the bottom mouth, the curves in his tail. It was not only the dragons I witnessed poor care. I witnessed a cage of rabbits swarmed with flies. My heart is breaking for these animals. No offense to the owners, it’s not personal but most of these animals will require expensive vet care. Most of these dragons may lose their lives. Baby bearded dragons are pretty fragile.

Really friendly staff. Just needed a muzzle for my dog, but the lady took time to open the boxes and check for a good fit. Will definitely go there again.

Great selection of healthy fish. Bought two guppies for the same price as other stores, but the markings are better and the fins aren't tattered.
