Being married to a pilot and an avid aviation enthusiast and being an Air Force veteran myself, we have been enjoying visiting local airports for years. While the old days of aviation will never be the same, we sure have enjoyed seeing the changes that Doug Harrison and wife Tamra have made at Marion County Airport over the past couple of years. We have helped out as volunteers when we could and have seen the airport evolving from a largely deserted and unwelcoming place to a welcoming environment where one can fly in and refuel and take a break in clean welcoming surroundings, or where an old airport bum can just come in and make coffee and hang out. If you are lucky you might see an interesting antique aircraft or might run into some old characters who will gladly swap a story or two. We have heard rumors that there have been a few unhappy people who haven't been around long enough to recognize a good thing when they see it nor do they see the hard work that has been done to make great changes that have been made to make it what it is today. We would like to count our blessings and if you haven't done so, stop by and sign the register and thank Doug and Tamra for a job well done. We look forward to watching the continuing progress and ongoing work being done. We also hope we can continue to enjoy Marion County Airport as a place where aviators and aviation enthusiasts alike, can enjoy a safe, welcoming place to meet, where new and old friends can feel comfortable. If you are looking for flight training in general aviation or light sports I highly recommend coming here. I had Justin as my instructor and he is an incredible CFI. I believe he could write a book on how to teach or fly. I’m told there’s another CFI here as well, her name is Mattie. The FBO has recently been remodeled and it turned out great. While here, I stayed in Cotter at the Commercial Hotel. It’s a beautiful 100 plus year old newly renovated hotel that will make you want to come back often.

I flew into the KFLP airport in my T-34 and with my “better half” in his T-34 in October 2024, before heading to Gaston’s White River Resort, for a 3 day stay, and then to continue on to Tullahoma TN for the annual “Beech Party.” Upon landing we were greeted by the nicest people I have had the pleasure of meeting at a fuel stop in my 55 years of flying!!! Both Doug and his beautiful wife, Tamra and very sweet puppy greeted us like we were old friends! We stayed for quite awhile and just became very good friends.
I do hope the opportunity comes up again to stop in and say hi and get our “sweet hugs” from them.
Their self serve fuel is very user-friendly as well!

Doug and Tamara have completely transformed what was a tired and rundown facility with hardly anyone ever around in a clean new hot spot for General Aviation. If you are close you should make it a destination.

This is such a cute, little FBO. Just remodeled, with a nice waiting area including snacks and beverages. Doug and his wife are awesome and will provide you with anything you need. Great hospitality! I would recommend this airport!

This is a very good GA airport with a terminal building that is getting a re-make and great staff. 24/7 fuel in great condition and terminal access. Once they get a crew car this will be a great stop.

Cheap gas and an absolutely wonderful FBO w manager (Tamra). Thank god the old FBO was redone- That was a dump and now it's amazing. Thanks for the wonderful hospitality
