Booked an overseas shipment and was working with one rep that kept everything clear and explained how shipping and packing would be. Next some “ Jacob Hodgson “ took over and communication sucks. He’s always busy or “stepped out of the office” I paid for my shipment and was told my shipment would be loaded at my house.

The guy that shows up had markings for what cubic footage I was allowed and we ensured we packed to that. Then 30 days roughly later I get an invoice saying I’m 32 cubic feet over and need to pay $863.64 or pay storage fees.

I’m being told now which I wasn’t told at the start that they are billing me because they add pallets and it takes from your space you’re allowed: “each pallet adds approximately 6 cubic feet, across 4 pallets this is 24cf, then they measure from widest to longest to tallest.”

After receiving photos it shows with them measuring from widest point a lot of under space because they did not stack properly as it was loaded originally.

The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) will be getting involved because this company uses unfair acts to get more money out of you.

In preparation for my move from San Francisco to London, I spoke multiple times with Anthony Sclafani to get a quote, share the details of my move and required services, and ask a handful of questions. Anthony was extremely knowledgeable, polite, professional, and transparent with information about the international shipping process. When corresponding via e-mail, Anthony always provided timely responses, and his attention to detail was fantastic. He also expressed willingness to look at quotes from competitors and do what he could to match prices.

Ultimately, I did not select Transparent International Movers to handle my move to London, but I know that I would have been in good hands with Anthony at the helm. For anyone considering Transparent International Movers, ask for Anthony. You will not be disappointed.

I signed up with Transparent International, in May of 2024. They picked up my house hold goods and vehicles in mid June 2024. They assured me that my shipment would take 30 days from pick up to delivery. I've been through 4 of their company representative. One of which was their shipping manager Jacob the 2nd rep. He disregard my request for clarification of my shipment ignoring my emails and calls. Very unprofessional in my opinion. So, it's been 6 months and I still haven't received my shipment. Upon threatening them with a lawsuit my house hold goods was finally shipped. So, if you're planning a move overseas do not use their services.

Find a different moving company. Communication was awful throughout, extra charges here and there, shipment got stuck at the port upon arrival for a few weeks simply because they didn’t communicate properly with the subcontractors they use. When my shipment finally arrived, every single piece of furniture was chipped/scratched/partially damaged. A box and a painting (expensive, commissioned work by an artist in South Asia) were completely missing. And even though I got full insurance, they weren’t even listed on the inventory somehow (when I KNOW for a fact that they were put into the moving truck) so doubt I’m getting any money back, and the insurance company hasn’t even responded to me in a month so not sure if that’s legit. Seriously, don’t use these movers.

Steve was very thorough on our call, and everything unfolded exactly as it should have: I packed and labeled my boxes as instructed, and when movers came to take my things they further wrapped some of my furniture to make sure it was properly protected. I did incur a fee for needing more cft than I was quoted for, but that was 100% on me, and the possibility of a fee in that case had been communicated to me prior. Nothing came as a surprise.

Steve, who handled my initial call and quote, and Alisa, who handled logistics of pick-up and shipment on the US side, were both kind, patient, and communicative whenever needed.

Delivery from CT to Ireland went a little over the 12 week max expected time, but this I think couldn't be helped: the shipment arrived in Dublin right before the Christmas/New Year holidays, and this led to a little bit of congestion at the port. Not Transparent's fault at all, and the fee for storage that came back to me for this period was small (just a few euro).

On the Ireland side, shipment was transferred to Mason, a different co., but it still reflects well on Transparent as well to say that all my boxes arrived together, with no damage--even with fragile and volatile things involved, such as dishes, perfume oil bottles, and fountain pen ink! In all this I only had one thing break--a single bowl--and considering the distance and many hands the shipment passed through, I consider this a win!

DO NOT USE THEM! If I could give negative stars, Transparent would be getting -5.

Transparent handled my relocation from NY to the Balkans. The sales rep, Deryn, said all the right things and provided enough reassurances to make believe that the company is the epitome of professionalism. Then my relocation agent, Paola, took over, and Transparent's incompetence showed in full force.

Paola provided wrong emails regarding pick-up date of our shipment. We had already packed all our boxes, so all Transparent had to do was put them in the truck and then in our container for shipping. We had paid extra for Transparent to pack one TV, a cost of about $75 for a TV box. When the TV eventually arrived (4 months later!), it was simply wrapped up in cardboard. Paola also tried to sell us more insurance than what was needed, misquoting and misinterpreting the terms of the insurance policies.

After pick-up, it took over 7 weeks for our container to be loaded on a boat and start making its way towards us. In the meantime, Paola was refusing to answer simple questions regarding the status of the shipment, provide a tracking number or link, etc. Towards the end of August 2024, Paola disappeared altogether. The handling agents based in our destination location couldn't get in touch with her to finalize details regarding their payment. I had to get personally involved, after having sent Paola multiple unanswered emails, only to find out upon speaking with another Transparent agent on the phone, Joseph, that Paola was no longer working with Transparent and that he would be taking over my file.

What followed was one month of almost daily emails and calls to Transparent and the local agent, with no delivery date being given to me (at this point, we were well past the 12 weeks window from pick-up to delivery that Deryn had falsely promised and our contract provided), and with my shipment being held hostage until Transparent fully paid its local agent for their services. Joseph was being evasive and trying to shift responsibility to the moving company at destination. Meanwhile, he tried to suggest that I may have incurred additional charges. I emphatically stressed that given their mishandling of my move, particularly due to Paola's disappearing act, I would not be held liable for any expenses beyond the precise amount stipulated on our contract.

Things started really moving when, after two weeks of my shipment having arrived at destination and not being delivered, I emailed the CEO and the Ethics Department of the moving company at destination. Somehow, my things arrived within 2 days. Needless to say that Transparent does not have a complaints department, so publicly naming and shaming them is the only way to express one's dissatisfaction with their dismal service - and hopefully protect others from using them.

Service that has been so bad that it feels like I’m being pranked. The only reason I didn’t already write a review is that I was concerned that my move would somehow go even worse with this company. But I’m pretty sure that’s futile and that my stuff is never arriving. So I’ll just write about my experience with Transparent and hope I help someone else out.

Our stuff was picked up for a move from Denver to the Netherlands in August. It is still, apparently, sitting at a port on the east coast. The lack of movement was blamed on the strike in October all the way up until part two of that strike, coming soon, in January. So I’m now trying to radically accept the permanent delay/loss of my belongings.

Being mocked by the staff is definitely fun as well. Especially getting gaslit by them that it is somehow unreasonable of me to be upset about all this. The complete lack of empathy for losing the most important of our personal belongings has also been a real highlight of working with Transparent International.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Transparent are all about the show and the sale, once they have your funds they could not care less about the service or your goods. Steve explains all of your goods will be prepared and wrapped for sea travel when in fact its far from the truth. My own experience was that they sub contracted out to a horrendous company from Dallas. Unlike when my goods came to the USA (and arrived shrink wrapped onto pallets) all the movers did was wrap all my goods in brown paper? They then threw everything into cardboard boxes and that was it!! I was not surprised that 8 weeks later when my goods arrived in the UK that items had also been stolen (sets of weights, shoes, boots, sneakers/trainers). We had damaged furniture (a hole punctured in the side of the unit) and then to top it all - when our goods arrived in the container it was less than half full. We were charged for a full container when it could easily have fitted into a smaller one. The attitude and sheer unprofessionalism of the removal company was atrocious and the biggest mistake i ever made was to trust Transparent International. Do yourself a favour and find someone else who will treat your personal goods and their security with respect and they will still likely be cheaper than Transparent.
