I was a driver at Sunset Logistics. It was good for me when I was there; I mostly got plenty of miles. Sunset is not a good fit for me anymore though, so I moved on. There are very good people there, but like anywhere you go, you don’t mesh well with everyone. It is worth trying it out, but this is not the place to be if you want to lay back. Sunset has something of everything; drop and hook, live loads, multiple stop loads (2-6 stops), and round trips between MI and TX. No-touch loads, and some blanket/pad folding from time to time. Expect to drive anywhere.
Unfortunately Sunset Logistics ceased their operations.

This was a great company. I got great miles paid every week. I made my delivery on Monday and was waiting for my next load. I tried to call anyone, but there was no answer. I finally got an email about trying to get us our last check and escrow. My heart dropped in the pit of my stomach. Finally, Mason answered his phone. And said I guess I have not heard, but we went out of business and closed." But I will email you a list of companies around you can apply to. Ask him how he can help me get home? He had no answer. I tried to look for a rental car. I was told I could drive home and return the truck to a Ryder. Tried to use fuel card it was turned off. So u had to bobtail home. 🤬🤦🏾‍♀️

I was ghosted by the company. Left in Minnesota. I picked up my load on Monday and delivered on Tuesday. At delivery the customer said he was sad to hear about my company closing I replied what do you mean I haven’t heard anything. So after delivery I went to truck stop tried calling my dispatcher and tried all numbers I had available to me no answer! I sent in a message free form and no response! The next day wensday I tried calling again same thing no response. So I proceed towards Michigan and was just scared and unsure of what was happening or going on! So Thursday I went to put fuel in truck and it was declined (off) so no fuel! So I panicked and had to decide whether I should go to the yard in Michigan or go home in Tennessee. Not knowing what to do or what to do with equipment as I was never told anything or even heard from anyone at this point I chose to go home. Praying I had enough fuel to make it there! I get home and tried to call several times again to find out what to do with equipment? I send a free form message on omnitracs and still have not heard a peep from this company! Nobody has even bothered to check on me for my safety or welfare or even care enough to make sure I got home safely. This is not a very Christian thing to do to a human. I came to this company 1 month to the day of them closing doors in good faith that I was going to make a good living and a have a final family! Loved the the runs and all people in office. I have been a driver for almost 20 yrs now and this has never happened to me. I was planning on retiring from here! Now I’m still left in the dark as to what is going on! What do I do with equipment? Why would you do people like that? And worse NO PAYCHECK FOR OUR LABOR! I’m still in shock and need counseling this is so wrongful! Could have gave a notice. They expected us to give a notice to quit but could they do the same? NO

This is definitely the best job I've had- sad to say I watched my last sunset with Sunset today - apparently the company is going out of business and as I drive home I can't help but think of all the great folks that I've encountered while being a part of this adopted family- a home away from home. I'll miss going up the hill and watching other drivers picking up & dropping off trailers waiving at each other as they drive by. The office folks were so friendly to me I will surely miss them. I wish everyone good luck in their future endeavors. God bless to all and I'll keep you all in my happy memories. This is Raymond unit 2236.

I had been told by recruiter Terri that the company has newer trucks. After l arrived there and stay 2 days at hotel for orientation. Here you go! They gave me old, dirty, no refrigerator Ryder truck with 700.000 miles on it. That truck will fall apart on hwy! Always expect for breakdown. There are nice and friendly people at office. You shouldn’t lie and waste my time! I understand that when you rent old unit that you pay less lease to Ryder. No matter what! the company not need to lie to people. If l knew the truck that condition and mileage l wouldn’t get to there and ruin my time over there. Terri (recruiter) called me and even she was upset and apologized to me. She is a great person but the company is not! No one detailed inside the truck and has almost million mile on it! Tell truth the people before calling them your company! Totally unprofessional!

I was there 2 full days. If you have couldn’t figured out 48 hours. I agree waste of time! I wouldn’t wait over there for your mess and unorganized business! Totally failure! UPDATE: We were all paid.
Sad day that the company closed unexpectedly. We all lost our jobs. None of us were paid for the week we worked prior to closing. Buddy, my plea is this. Please pay everyone that worked hard for you and supported you and your family for so many years. It’s just the right thing to do. And clear the air as well. Rumors are flying around that I knew about this well in advance, but I did not. My name is getting dragged through the dirt and I have done nothing. Drivers and former employees…. I have been praying hard for you all. God will see us all through this. Sending my thoughts and prayers to each and every one of you and your families. I am so sorry about all this. 🙏

I have been with Sunset for a couple years now. I am a driver trainer for them. From day one I was treated like family. If you have a issue with anything they do their best to get it taken care of. I have never had a issue getting home when I need to and I can stay out as long as I want to. They pay you accordingly to how you do your job and your experience. If you do the job your hired to do. IE deliver on time, safely and don't get violations they take good care of you. The owner has personally helped me out on a couple different occasions. All Sunset ask is for you to do your job. This company is amazing. I know this company very well and they are truly committed and concerned about their drivers. I had to take some time off for medical reasons and not only did the staff check on me but they were very willing to bring me back when I was ready. Don't be fooled by the negative reviews. Sunset is amazing I love this company and will stand and defend it to anyone.

This company will report false information on your DAC report. Even if you need to go home for a family emergency they will say you quit under dispatch even though you have a signed BOL showing you delivered the load. They will say you left the truck in an in an unauthorized location even though it broke down on the receivers property and had to be towed. Then they will never call you when the truck is fixed then try to ruin your career with false claims to DAC.
