I stayed unexpectedly after a day spent in Monterey, California. The night clerk was quick to answer the windows and get me a AAA discount. That was a pleasant surprise.
The room was clean, and a good size with a queen bed and a desk/ vanity, a chair, 2 night stands, a short stand with drawers, a T.V., a small fridge and microwave, and a nice counter with the sink area. The toilet and shower/tub are in a separate area. That is convenient since it allows one person to use the sink area to get ready while another person uses the toilet, or shower/tub.
The bed was comfortable and I slept like a baby.

This historic hotel is not a B&B, it's an historic hotel with a large common area. The dining room and living room are spacious and well decorated with quality reproductions. We had a snafu with the door code but overall, checkin was a breeze. Staff were available by phone and very responsive. The woodwork is amazing, and we found the bed fairly comfortable (2nd floor deluxe king bed), as was the gas fireplace and antique armchair with footstool. It was spotlessly clean and perfect for an overnight stay on our way home. The Keurig machine and shared refrigerator were just what we needed. Max's Grill down the street is wonderful.

Great location. Beautiful building. Rooms were nice and clean but somewhat dated. Heat thermostat did not seem to work but there were extra blankets.||Was a bit skeptical of the place when I learned there was no one onsite. If I wanted an AirBnB experience then I would have booked one. However, everything worked out except for the heater (and at 10 pm I was not going to call with help an hour away).||Overall, it seems like the place could be amazing but is trying to figure out the lowest cost method of running the place. I would suggest spending a bit more money by fixing light switches (some were missing), investing in two ply toilet paper, and having tea/hot water available. ||I would return but would expect lower prices.

The Keurig machine and shared refrigerator were welcome as we had morning coffee in the common rooms.

This is a great value option which is close to the downtown Monterey Bay. The place is clean and instructions are perfect to access, it’s just a bed only place and we got the basement which had high decibel noise from the street - police and fire stations are right opposite to the place and so expect noise during day. The sound of traffic at night does wake you up.

The setup is lovely and truly Victorian. The collection of antiques are amazing and are on display. Other than the bed, and experience, one shouldn’t expect anything. Worth the money and great location.

Stayed with my two grown kids- king size bed and a fold out couch. Clean with daily service if you want it - microwave & refrigerator are in a common area with free water as well! Parking was always available. Felt safe and it was quiet too. Very centrally located where everything we wanted to see was less than 20 min away. Would definitely stay again

Gorgeous space, amazing location, super easy check in and great price to value! As others have stated, there is no staff on site but I’ve stayed in a lot of these little old bnbs and self check in is pretty common! I think some of the negative reviews may have been from before it was renovated—it was spotless, super nice bedding, interior decor, etc. Loads of character and didn’t have any of the noise issues others mentioned. Wish we could have stayed longer!

I booked for the wrong dates, and the person I spoke to on the phone fixed the dates and also provided me with a complimentary late check out! Beautiful rooms in a gorgeous Victorian and lovely service. I cannot reccomend this place enough. They do require online check-in which some seem to assume is a scam. I work in hotels and can confirm it is not a scam, rather a way to increase efficiency. As someone in the hospitality industry, this inn exceeded my expectations. 10/10 experience!
