If you are a Canadian that is planning on leaving/storing your RV, Trailer, or Fifth Wheel in the US longer than a year, you are required to import it through US Customs (No need to take it out of the US and back in again through US Customs to reset a new year). We had been storing our fifth wheel in the US rather than dragging it back and forth to Canada but we only just recently learned that we had to import it into the US in order to store it there (we were informed of this by a US Customs agent the last time we crossed into the US).
The paper-work to accomplish this is very complicated and it seemed that each Customs agent we spoke to on the phone or via email gave differing recommendations and instructions regarding how to proceed. The one thing they all agreed on was that we should hire a broker to complete the paper work so that there are no glitches or hold ups. We finally found May Chen at Ability Customs Brokers, in Oakland, California. May was wonderful and took care of everything for us. She was very professional and communicated with us in a timely manner and meticulously completed all pertinent documents with detailed accuracy! The fees for her services were also very reasonable.
Once the paperwork is completed, you can then take your paperwork and RV, fifth wheel, or trailer to any US port of entry Customs agency within the US, such as where we went in Oakland, California. This was a stressful ordeal for us to say the least but thanks to May, the inspection at Customs went quickly and smoothly! May has been doing this for years and she clearly knows what she is doing. We would highly recommend her to anyone.

May, is a very ,nice, friendly and professional US Customs Broker, her and her team helped me with a mess that was done by the shipping company on my Machine Entry Paperwork, US Customs had Denied entry do to this and was told to call Ability Customs Broker to assist me with this mess. Despite paying all duties and fees on time, we were hit with unexpected costs because of their negligence. They were completely unresponsive when we tried to resolve the issue. Avoid this company if you want reliable service and proper handling of your customs clearances.

I recently imported a mini-excavator from China. Ability Customs Brokers handled the import documentation which is complex relative to other importations. There is EPA engine documentation, tariffs, security documentation and a host of other paperwork that if not done correctly can cause major, costly problems. Ability Customs Brokers did an outstanding job and the import process went very smoothly. Communications were great and walking a novice like myself thru the process was exceptionally helpful.
