We called Countrywide Relocations to set up a move (4.25 cuft) from Texas to Virginia. We were given a total quote of $2,800 with a $750 deposit due at that time.

When the movers came, they said the total price was going to be $5,760 instead of $2,800 (more than twice as much!) for the same cubic feet. They had already loaded up the truck when they presented the invoice and said that $2,000 was due that day. The remaining $3,750 would be due when they delivered the items.

Every person I talk to when I call Countrywide simply says they will give my information to Customer Service, however, no one ever calls back. It's been 8 phone calls in the past week and no one has even attempted to call me. Now, no one even answers the phone.

The company's practices are deceptive, as they lured us in with a good initial price, only to dramatically increase the final cost without explanation, and have been unresponsive to our attempts to address the issue. This leaves me feeling that their business model is intentionally misleading customers.

This was my first time using a moving company for a move. I had my reservations about it because I had heard so many horror stories from my friends about experiences they had with other moving companies. However, for my long distance move, I had no other choice than to use a moving company. I picked Countrywide Relocations based on their reviews and wasn’t disappointed. I originally spoke with Jason in sales who was very patient with me as I expressed my fears and used his knowledge of the moving industry to explain the moving process step by step to me. Joab in quality assurance helped me assess my packing needs and went over every item I was moving to make sure I had no surprise charges on moving day. Lastly, Tiffany in customer service answered all of my questions, including those about pickup and delivery dates, very promptly. She remained very polite even though I probably called her about a dozen times. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

This company took $10826 from me as a "deposit", and when I got suspicious of the company for taking such a large deposit, not disclosing they were a broker not a mover, and they were sending some other company I had never heard of to actually do the move. I told them I did not want their service and asked for a refund. They refused to return any of they money even though they did absolutely no work for me. When I protested they put me in touch with a lady who was higher up in the company and she said they would have a "meeting" about the refund. After the "meeting" they agreed to give me a "credit" for the amount of my deposit for use in a future move within 12 months. They obviously know I do not want to use them, nor will I be moving again in 12 months. This company is a total scam artist, rip off company. Stay far away from them. Never call their number.
User's recommendation: Do not even TRY to use them.

Below is a list of services that were promised to me in a legally binding verbal agreement and/or in a written contract and were not delivered:
1. The most basic service of having our stuff moved from one place to another was not fulfilled. Over half of our furniture was left in our apartment due to a lack of space in the truck.
2. The inventory specialist we spoke to misquoted our cubic feet allotment by over 600 cubic feet. Not only were we charged an extra $3,000 for the “wiggle room” we were promised, but we also left over half of our furniture including a mattress, bed, several shelves, bikes, and multiple boxes. There was also an additional “long carry” fee that was not quoted to us in our initial agreement. Our binding verbal agreement stated that “if you choose to use us as your moving company, you will not be faced with extra charges during your move.”
3. Upon our agreement in using this service we were promised a delivery date that was not fulfilled. I understand your written contract says something different, but we were assured verbally that even by law it would only take up to 5 moving days.
4. We were not connected to a reputable moving company. This company was hacked and all of our personal information was compromised. The weekend of our move there were a series of phone calls with misinformation regarding when our movers would be there and how to know if they were not impersonators. Once the movers arrived, they did not begin moving our things until three hours after arrival. They did not communicate to us what was happening while they were there. I reached out to the emergency customer service line multiple times and no one was available to tell me if this was safe.

The moving cost was markedly underestimated, then when the movers come they give you a new cost which was thousands of dollars more than the estimate. When I tried to reach the person who "sold" me on using their company to complain, the telephone numbers I had for him were no longer recognized. At that point I was concerned this was a scam. The moving company they recommended was not professional and damaged some of my furniture.

DO NOT…. UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE THIS COMPANY!

I contacted Countrywide Relocation on December 21st looking to get a quote. Based on my conversation with Nathan, we agreed on a pick-up and delivery date. Nathan was easy to talk with, REALLY pushed the “we move the military” angel, and said they could hit my target dates. He didn’t tell me in the conversation that this company is a BROKER!! Nathan promised a pick-up on December 29th and a delivery on January 5th. Because he promised delivery within my time frame, I chose to work with them. PLEASE UNDERSTAND.......they can’t control the delivery dates, they send the contract out for bidding, and an actual moving company handles the move. I had already submitted a deposit before I realized what I had done.

Countrywide Relocation Services had horrendous customer service. Heather, Carlos, and Tiffany pretty much said what I wanted to hear. They lied and never followed through with what they said they would do. I’m still waiting on the email Carlos said was going to send and copy me on. And Tiffany still owes me a couple of callbacks. I couldn’t count on them to provide any services requested.

The actual movers, Hello Moving USA, called and communicated to us a scheduled pickup date and time of December 31st between 2:00 and 6:00. They never showed up, and there was no one available to take calls or explain why they didn’t show up. With the New Year's Holiday, we had to sit by and wait until January 2nd before we heard from anyone. Finally, around 2:00 on January 2nd Ashley called, stating someone would be at my location at 8:00 am on January 3rd. They showed up to pick up our stuff, but that’s when the waiting started. Customer service at Hello Moving was rude and aggressive when I first started calling asking for a delivery date. Once I resigned myself to the fact they “had all control” of the situation, I just had to deal with it. We finally received delivery of our items on Friday, January 27th!!! Yes, 25 DAYS after pick-up. Their contract says they have 21 business days to deliver. Add to it the long MLK weekend when they were off. They pushed it close to that deadline. Finally, I ended up having to pay an extra $1,000 than what was quoted because the movers had to go up an elevator 6 floors.

I will bear some of the responsibility for this problem for not researching this company more, but what I will not handle is a salesperson not communicating what the company they represent does correctly. Nor, liars and mean customer service personnel who tell you something they will not do.

This company and their marketing have MISREPRESENTED the COST and ARRIVAL DATE in order to obtain my business. It's been 28 days and ALL IN ONE MOVING AND STORAGE AND COUNTRYWIDE (their broker) have not moved my items and will not give me a date for when they will begin the move. When the movers arrived they attempted to increase the rate by $800, even though all of the item where listed in the quote correctly. The company would not answer the phone to resolve the issue. I was told 5 to 8 days with the quote. After most of my belongings had been loaded onto the truck, the movers produced a new contract for me to sign which increased the delivery time to 14 or possibly 21 days. It has been 28 days since the pick up and the shipment still has not left the warehouse to make the 5 to 8 day trip. They currently will not even give me a date for when the items will be transported. I am calling the police to report over 15K worth of household inventory and electronics as stolen. I hope the police will help.

this was a long but overall GOOD experience!
my only advice is, that as customer you need to figure your final cubic feet in order to avoid disagreements with the local moving broker assigned your inventory. They tried to make my items look bigger, so the volume at up extra for them. Also make sure you fully packed and wrapped with lots of plastic film all of your boxes. I had mines kind of smashed, at least the ones that I did not fully packed. For the rest of the moving items including my fiber carbon bikes; everything was delivered without any issues. Delivery time from Colorado to Florida 14 days.
