I took their flight to see peaks of Denali & the sky opened to a beautifully sunny day mixed with clear/perfect for pictures sky after having the peaks not visible due to cloud cover mostly all that day. It was as though we bought a ticket for clear sky & it then delivered!
I was very impressed by our pilot who awaited confirmed clearance for his turn at being above Denali's peaks
(also confirmed when he was finished being above those peaks)!
While we had gone from abundant, nearby peaks & glaciers which were breathtaking in size, I felt lucky to have this particular pilot as he knew names of each nearby mountain & glaciers. Oh my! what enormous size- otherwise unknown without the flight! Who knew that unique glacier was that far up?
I posted a picture of one glacier, unique due to its dual flow that dwarfed one healthy 37 mile long glacier we had landed on via helicopter after taking an airboat around its 37 miles length where our airboat pilot knew where spots were to look far into its intense blue icy inner chasms-I've never seen anything equal to that blue! I had thought it couldn't be outdone but this view was unique! Filling my drink container from a fast running stream running atop the 37 mile long glacier earlier in our cruise made a memorable treat! We were fortunate to be 2 of the 5 people who were able to do that excursion on that cruise!
ADVICE! Be online when signup for excursions opens & know what you want=my #1 tip for this SilverSea Cruise excursion planner!
As our last day seeing what Alaska has to offer, this flight that looks down onto Denali's peaks truly did make an appropriate 'cherry on top' for our 4 day Denali extension beyond the Silver Sea cruise to Alaska! As an all-inclusive cruise with the one notable exception of choosing what you want to do/see of their lengthy list of excursions, this choice step is critically important!

SilverSeas manages the 4 day extension as elegantly as the main cruise! They took measures to extremes & was very much appreciated, included a Japanese accented hotel with cog rail to mountain top nearby & that was simply a stop on way up to the main event. Our stops were highpoints & one lengthy stop took place in the camp of 'Four time Iditerod winner' & saw the dogs (so many dogs!), how the training's done-what a highlight that was! His movie of the process & racing was very well done & the winner, complete with Swiss born accent was really adept in presentation while a fun guy. They had us on scenic trains as we rose higher where views & ride were spectacular & far superior to any driven ride-that went both directions but different train routes!
While I might have had my fill of views on the last day, that last scenic railway made it fun with outstanding served food on lower level as well as the fun seated with fun friends made during the cruise. Know how many stars are on
AL's flag-just a hint for a prize!
Our upscale bus was sitting there (no small feat since train had no stop signs, etc & I expected we'd be far ahead of the bus) & took us to Captain Cooke hotel-the history & art-filled end for us so well beyond a routine hotel. That also was major cut above most & we're now 100% used to excellence a la SilverSeas Style! They always find & choose the best so we'll go with every one of their suggestions on next trip!
Please accept my apologies for this epistle! It was such fun!

Great service and excellent pilots. This is the only way to travel in and out of Denali in my opinion.
