If you haven't been then what are you waiting for? True Houston Institution that's been around over 80 years. More of an emporium than strict hardware store. Many unique items. Owner is a Dead Head so you'll probably hear the Dead playing over the speakers and some Grateful Dead themes items (see pics). Definitely worth a visit especially when they have special events where listed on their website. Staff is super helpful and friendly. Some have been there decades which speaks volumes for the management. Enjoy!

This was a new find for me. Fantastic- new favorite place for everything.
The service was amazing with friendly staff close by (don’t have to wait forever for someone who has never done construction) that actually have experience and knowledge of both the products and uses. They gave me advice the helped that ended up with my not needing to purchase the item.
The products are very good with a selection that rivals any of the stores I use (Williams Sonoma, Home Depot, to name a few). They have coffee, beer on tap, and a fun atmosphere. Very enjoyable. In addition, they do some demonstrations on some of the products.

Bering's played such an important part of making our wedding vision come to life. I worked with Hollis on save the dates, our formal wedding invitation suite, cocktail napkins, ceremony programs, dinner menus, escort cards, and more.

With a background in advertising and marketing, I was extra picky, especially about the invitation suite. I wanted our invitations to make a statement and set the tone for a formal affair. What Bering's delivered exceeded our expectations.

The final product featured a customized inner envelope liner with our oversized wedding logo, metallic beveled edges, and extra thick, 3-ply cotton paper stock that showcased the embellished font and letterpress. They were perfection!

Hollis' professionalism, communication, and technical knowledge made the entire process seamless. We couldn't be happier that we choose Bering's to help us make our day that much more special.

It says “Hardware” in the name but this store is so much more than that!!! They had such great fine china (like Herend!)and crystal (Lalique). I love Le Creuset cookware and found a bunch of different colors here that I haven’t seen elsewhere. It’s a big store too, which you can’t tell from outside! Lots of unique clothes, accessories and home decor. Would be an excellent place to find a gift for someone. Prices are very fair. Definitely plan to come back!

Updated review: the manager was willing to do the right thing which is what I’d expect from Bering’s. Thanks for making things right. I’ll continue to be a frequent customer. This experience below was a one off so I’m updating my review. Bering’s is truly a one off a kind experience and a neighborhood gem for gifts, decor, kitchen items, food and much more. Their service is also great! Always someone there to answer a question and help.

Not what it used to be in terms of service. Beware of buying anything from here.

I’m so disappointed in the store manager and how he handled an issue that I had with one of the yetis that I purchased that had issues with the top. I purchased 4 of them and one had an issue with the top popping off. He said it’s not something they can help with. He was the manager of that department on duty today. I have an account and it was purchased less than a month ago.
Don’t expect Berings on Westheimer to return something defective. Not the service I would have expected.

I went in here looking for gift baskets. They're not pre made but you can pick and choose what you want to put in them and they will put it together for you. Ask for Barbara in the gift shop. Best customer service. She helped me put together 5 gift baskets on a tight budget. When I heard you have to put them together yourself I was about to leave, but she then offered to help me pick and choose what to put in the gift baskets. She was walking around the whole store with me helping me. You don't see this type of service anymore. Thank you Barbara.

Great online shopping experience. I was able to purchase a few Jon Hart pieces with monogramming and they arrived within 6 business days. The bags are beautiful and I will definitely be ordering from Bering’s again!
