I deadheaded 131 miles for a load. Only to be told by the shipper that there was nothing left. The broker called me twice for my eta. They never called me after I found out there was no load for me.
I was booked as an extra driver. Expendable. There never was a load for me. Very treacherous. Be very careful doing business with some brokers. Try not to let this happen to you.

They were not approved with factoring, and I knew there is a little bit of gamble booking with them, well it took 77 days to get paid, they just kept buying time for whatever reason, it got to a point where I thought I have to start calling their costumer/bond or whatever it take to get paid, not someone I would do business with again.

Awesome people and the best trucks. Pete 389's, Cummins and 18 Speeds. Only trucks I'll drive. Got sent home for something after orientation but hope to go back soon as I get it straight. Nikki and the girls are the best.

Run far and fast from amistad Freight. They do not answer answer the phones, be it recruiting, dispatch, or break downs. the equipment is run down and not maintained properly, detention pay if they actually give you it won't start until after 5 hours of sitting layover and shop pay they say they pay after 34 hours of sitting but again they will not pay it, I am still trying to get my last paycheck and it's been over a month trying to contact them via email, text and phone calls without a single response. At most you will be lucky if you see 1500 miles in a week with them. Please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for a over the road job this is not the place unless you like not being paid.

The agent they have assigning loads to owner operators is a deceptive young man named Steve Capistran. He does not reveal the truth about the loads he contracts out.

He talks a good line, even mentions that he goes to church and has a lot of respect for truckers, but in reality he is a phony!

The deceptive load he booked me on was the worst load I’ve had in 12 years of trucking.

After driving 275 miles to get the load I was told it would take more than 18 hours to get loaded. After I waited, I was told it would be another 24 hours. Steve Capistran and his cronies expected me to sit in a parking lot for for up to 48 hours for a load that should take two hours to get on a trailer,

I finally realized that Steve Capistran had not been truthful so I cancelled the bad contract and got another load from another company, but that took driving another 150 miles!

Overall I lost 2 1/2 days, burned up 425 miles I was not paid for and had fuel costs of $300.

I asked Steve for the standard $150 for a truck ordered but not used which is a typical fee in these cases. He refused! Said it was my fault because I cancelled!

This guy is a deceptive sidewinder! That tells me also that his company, Amistad is also shady and cannot be trusted. This trickery gives a bad name to all freight brokers.

When I questioned his actions, he threatened me for criticizing his character.

I say, Ha! Ha! Go ahead, make my day!

SIDE POINT: This is a Mississippi freight hauling company load brokerage but their phone number Area Codes are Sacramento California region.

Carriers be careful working with the company. Picked up a load for them. They said the load is ready and they will load us withing an hour. Took us 12 hours to get loaded. Never scheduled the delivery appointment. Didn't pay any detention. The broker said since the driver delivered the load on time they are not going to pay anything. The he pretended the he got offended and stopped answering phone calls and email. Tried to call the manager and it didn't help. Awful experience. Would not recommend anyone.
