From move in to move out, the gentlemen (John & Craig, I think) on staff were so kind and helpful. They showed me to my unit, how the lock works and where I could find everything in the building. The whole place was very clean and well kept. It was our first time ever renting a storage unit and it was a great experience overall.

Rate was raised around $32 per month out of the blue with a deceptive reason. There wasn’t an introductory rate that expired- I was paying my normal monthly rate and got a card in the mail saying that they were raising my rates due to increased costs. The problem with that is that I have multiple storage units with them and the rates magically increase due to “rising costs” based on the amount of months they have been rented (from 9-12 months). In other words, it is a bait and switch tactic. They promise a rate that doesn’t vary and then jack up the rate (somewhere around a year in) and blame it on circumstances beyond their control.

The units are nice and clean and the people working there are great. I just don’t like the way the company does business.

Edit: I changed my review to 1 star after the response from the business. I wasn’t frustrated with “rental increases” in general. I do not like the deceptive bait and switch business method used by CubeSmart. Just be transparent and upfront so people know what to expect. It’s hard to budget when you don’t know if the rent will go up the next month, 2 months, or whatever. Please don’t raise the rent and cite cost increases when the rate increase is based on length of rental. Responsible renters aren’t as gullible as you think they are. The facility (fairly new) was great with the exception of a faulty keypad on a door for ~6 months. The on-site staff are amazing— friendly, helpful, and quick to respond to any questions. Maybe all storage buildings start with a price and raise the rent continually over time.
